SUNDAY SNOW

Light snow will be with us much of this morning and taper off north of the Mass Pike by noontime. Light snow sticks around a bit longer east coastal MA, and especially southeastern MA, the Cape, & Islands where snow will be more persistent with some moderate bursts before shutting down later this evening and tonight, with the last of the snow exiting the Cape by midnight. As far as totals go, a coating to an inch or so is expected along and north of the Pike, 1-3″ of snow from the south shore of Boston westward into Rhode Island, and higher amounts from Plymouth to the Cape and along the south coast of Mass where 3-5″ is likely, perhaps a few locally higher amounts.

Temps won’t budge much above freezing this afternoon, as a matter of fact, they’ll start to plummet into the 20s during the mid-afternoon and evening as a gusty northwest wind kicks in representing the leading edge of Arctic air! Bundle up if heading to Gillette Stadium this afternoon, expect to see a few lingering flurries and snow showers around along with a gusty northwest wind.

BRIEF ARCTIC BLAST MONDAY

More bitter cold is expected tonight and Monday with lows dropping into the teens overnight and highs in the mid 20s Monday. A gusty northwest wind will drive wind chill values down below 0 late tonight & early Monday morning, the single digits and teens Monday afternoon. The frigid air won’t last long, by Wednesday we’ll see temperatures closer to seasonal levels, in the 40s.
