National Weather Service confirms tornado hit in Woods Hole

The National Weather Service has dropped the Tornado Warning for Barnstable and Dukes Counties, but severe thunderstorms are expected to continue throughout the area.

Seek cover immediately. Take shelter in the basement or lowest floor inside of building away from windows and exterior walls.

4:11 p.m.: The National Weather Service confirmed that there was an EF-0 tornado in Woods Hole Monday morning, with an estimated maximum wind speed of 60-65 mph.

Live Updates:

10:32 a.m.: The tornado warning has been dropped by the NWS  but severe thunderstorm threat along with wind gusts of up to 60 mph continues for Barnstable County.

10:28 a.m.: A "waterspout" has been reported by the NWS over the Elizabeth Islands, traveling towards Woods Hole.

10:15 a.m.: The NWS has extended the Tornado Warning until 10:45 this morning.

10:12 a.m.: Students in Falmouth Public Schools are being moved to interior spaces.
