METHUEN, Mass. — A man is fighting for his life after causing a serious car crash in Methuen Saturday night. Police say, if he recovers, he’ll face a long list of charges.
According to officials, that man stole a car from his ex-girlfriend before speeding through a huge intersection in Methuen. There, he took out a light post and crashed into a light control box, sending the light post into a nearby house.
The people who live inside that house were OK.
The damage left behind shows just how dangerous this crash was late Saturday night by Jackson and Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen.

Captain Randy Haggar says one of his officers saw the driver speeding by further down this street before he crashed into a control box that handles all the street lights in that main intersection.
"We had to get eight stop signs around the different locations," said Haggar. "We thought this was going to be out for days, but luckily they had some spare parts – this is all brand new."
Haggar said the car hit a light post, sending it flying through the air and into a nearby house.
The post broke through the wall from the inside while the impact of the crash also uprooted the heavy control box.
"It's about a 700-pound piece of concrete, which was anchored into the ground," Haggar said. "He actually moved it several feet and, had that not been there, we believe the vehicle would have went right through the house."
Police believe that prior to the crash that the driver broke into his ex-girlfriend’s house, assaulted her and then stole her car.
Police have not released the name of the driver. They say he’ll also face multiple domestic violence charges along with the charges related to the crash.
