CHELSEA, Mass. — People who waited in Chelsea to catch a glimpse of the Royal Highnesses got more than a quick look. The Prince and Princess spent a good amount of time talking to people in the crowd.
The crowd started building early Thursday morning outside Roca, a violence prevention non-profit in Chelsea.
“I got like colorful flowers. I didn’t want to do just typical roses,” said a woman. “We figured we’d come and see what we could see,” said a woman who flew in from Chicago.
Then just before 12 p.m. as cheers erupted, Prince William and Princess Catherine emerged from a hybrid Land Rover. But they only waved to the crowd as they went into the non-profit. The royal couple got a full tour to see how the agency is working to fight poverty, racism, and teen violence.
Read More Ashley Langan came up from Pembroke two days in a row and said, “I just want to hopefully see them again and maybe up close and personal this time would be great.”
About an hour later, as they walked out they turned right and walked over to the crowd and Ashley’s wait was over. “So nice to meet you,” said the Princess.
The royal couple made their way down line giving everyone a story of a lifetime. Tracy Syverian was with her son. “It was amazing. My son and I bought flowers for the Princess. They are so kind. Prince William was so kind. He took the flowers and gave them to Kate. Shook my hand. I was so glad I was able to share with my son,” said Syverian.
Ashley is still taking it all on. “They both apologized that I stood out yesterday in the rain to see them. I was like don’t apologize. They were so great. It was incredible,” said Langan.
The royals have one more day in Boston with another day of stops.
