BOSTON — The man accusing Kevin Spacey of sexual assault at a Nantucket bar has filed a civil lawsuit against the actor and is demanding damages.
In the suit filed Wednesday, William Little III, accuses Spacey of knowingly inebriating and then groping him at the Club Car Restaurant in July 2016 and demands a jury trial.
The lawsuit alleges Little had been working as a busboy at the restaurant and was introduced to Spacey after his shift was over "late in the evening of July 7, 2016 or early in the morning of July 8, 2016". The two allegedly "spent some time together in conversation in or near the bar area."
According to the lawsuit, Spacey exhibited signs of "explicit sexual behavior and lewd and lascivious conduct with Little".
The suit alleges Little has "suffered and will continue to suffer in the future severe mental distress and emotional injuries."
The civil suit also "demands judgment against Defendant Kevin Spacey... in an amount determined by a jury, plus costs, interest and attorneys' fees."
Little is seeking damages for assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
There is a pending criminal case against Spacey charging him with assault and battery for allegedly groping the then-18-year-old in a bar on the island.
Spacey is due back in Nantucket District Court on July 8. His attorneys are seeking Little's cell phone, which they claim is a critical piece of their defense. However, Little and his family have indicated that the phone in question has gone missing.
