HYANNIS, Mass. — Another day, another canceled ferry trip.
Two trips have been canceled Tuesday morning due to mechanical issues.
Officials with the Steamship Authority say the 6:30 a.m. M/V Woods Hole ferry from Hyannis to Nantucket has been canceled.
The 9:15 a.m. M/V Woods Hole ferry from Nantucket to Hyannis has also been canceled.
Two trips had to be canceled just this past Sunday due to mechanical issues.
So-called mechanical issues have plagued the Steamship Authority for months. Hundreds of trips between the Islands and Woods Hole have already been canceled this year. That's compared to just 26 cancellations in 2017. Ferries have also lost power, become stranded and passengers have gotten stuck inside elevators.
Those who live on the island have called for an external review of the Steamship Authority.
The agency has hired an independent consultant to review its ferries.
