BOSTON — Boston police are continuing to search for the driver of a car that hit a bicyclist in the Back Bay Sunday and fled the scene.
Police said the cyclist was riding in the right lane, not bike lane, near Commonwealth Avenue and Clarendon Street when a silver sedan hit him, throwing him into a nearby MINI Cooper.
According to police, the plates on the car may be from New York. It is believed to be a 2015-2017 Toyota Camry.
A second cyclist riding with the victim from the Kenmore Square area and was not hit or hurt during the incident.
Boston police said the victim is around 30 years old and suffered life-threatening injuries.
“It looks like he went airborne, and the car might have run him over at that point,” Boston police Commissioner William Evans said. “It’s very serious. Doctors don’t give him a good prognosis here.”
Police said the driver then sped away, heading the wrong way down Berkley Street.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police.
