MEDFIELD, Mass. — Severe storms hit several parts of Massachusetts on Saturday, uprooting trees and downing power lines. In Medfield, two large trees landed on a house on Adams Street.
“We just got back from walking my dogs. I got in the house probably 15 seconds before the tree fell and heard a massive crash,” explained homeowner Tim Hurley. “My son was in the house with me at the time. Luckily my wife and my other son and daughter were not here.”
Hurley said he was grateful no one was hurt, and that he was in the kitchen at the time the trees fell.
“Obviously it was scary, just trying to register it,” he said.
According to Boston 25 News meteorologist Vicki Graf, winds reached nearly 70 miles per hour in that part of Medfield during the storm. While no one was hurt, the crashing of trees was also heard by neighbors nearby.

“I heard a loud noise and I wasn’t sure what it was, so I looked out my window and I saw two trees down!” said 14-year-old Zach O’Connell, a neighbor on Adams Street. “At first I didn’t know what it was, I thought it was our tree. And then when the storm stopped, I came outside and I looked, and it was their trees. And all I could see was leaves.”
As of 5 p.m. on Saturday, Hurley had not been inside of his house yet to assess the damage, but did say he hoped the exterior repairs would be cosmetic.
According to the Medfield Fire Department, the storm appeared to last about 15 minutes long, with most of the damage contained to the Adams Street area in town.
