Patriots select Sony Michel with second pick in first round

FOXBORO — The Patriots stayed put Thursday night in the first round and made two selections, the second of which was running back Sony Michel, another player from the University of Georgia.

Michel finished his career at Georgia as the third-leading rusher in school history, behind Herschel Walker and his 2017 teammate, Nick Chubb. Michel finished his collegiate career with 3,638 rushing yards. He also caught 64 passes for 621 yards.

Georgia won the SEC Championship in 2017 and advanced to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, where the Bulldogs lost to Alabama in overtime. Michel carried the ball 14 times for 98 yards in the 26-23 loss.
