New Hampshire loses fall NASCAR race

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race announced today the fall race traditionally hosted at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, which happens to be a part of the Chase for the Cup playoff,will be moved to Las Vegas beginning with the 2018 season.

The first New Hampshire race in July will remain on the schedule.

An official announcement was made Wednesday afternoon at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The track will also host a NASCAR XFINITY Series race on the same weekend, moving that event from Kentucky Speedway.

“Fans and tourism officials in New Hampshire and Kentucky should know that we are still very committed to creating motorsports entertainment in those regions,” said Speedway Motorsports president and chief executive officer Marcus Smith.

“We will work hard to make sure the July NASCAR race weekends that we will continue to host in New Hampshire and Kentucky are bigger and better than ever before for our fans, sponsors and stakeholders,” said Smith.

Kevin Harvick won the New Hampshire fall race in 2016 after Matt Kenseth won in July.
