Day after World Series, Sox' Nava out with fans

MEDFORD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A lot of young fans decided to skip Halloween Thursday for a chance to meet Red Sox outfielder Daniel Nava.

"Trick or treating you can just buy candy, but the autograph you can't get. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity," said 11-year-old James Frederick.

Frederick was one of 100 people who got to shake Nava's hand and congratulate him on his World Series win. Nava told FOX 25's Melissa Mahan the win still hasn't sunk in.

As far as his beard goes, Nava said he's going to keep it for Saturday's rolling rally.

"I was thinking Spring Training felt like it was yesterday and we were talking about the goal to get to the World Series," said Nava. "And now it's happened. So it's pretty surreal."
