BOSTON — The Boston Bruins announced Monday afternoon that they’ve re-signed forward Jake DeBrusk to a two-year deal with an annual average value [AAV] of $3.675 million. DeBrusk, 24, was a restricted free agent for the black and gold this offseason; his new deal will end up paying him $7.35 million over the course of the next two seasons.
DeBrusk, an Edmonton, Alberta native, was drafted by the Bruins in the first round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Since then, he’s been a mainstay on the team’s second line, serving as the left-wing to C David Krejci. In the shortened 2019-20 season, DeBrusk scored 19 goals in 65 games and finished the year with 35 points (19-16—35).
His best season came in his second year in the NHL. Then, the six-foot, 188-pound winger put together a campaign where he potted 27 goals and added 15 assists on his way to 42 points on the season, a point away from tying his high-water mark of 43 set his rookie year.

A member of Boston’s 2018-19 team that won the Eastern Conference en route to a seven-game defeat in the 2019 Stanley Cup Final, DeBrusk has appeared in the postseason every year that he’s been in the NHL. During that time, he’s put up a 14-9—23 stat line in 49 games, and netted game-winning goals three times in the playoffs.
