NEW YORK — The Celtics won the top selection in this year's draft and will pick ahead of the Lakers and 76ers.
Entering the evening, the Celtics had a 25% chance to win the top pick, but nerves were high to the bitter end as the 76ers entered the top three.
Philadelphia was revealed as the #3 selection, leaving the Los Angeles Lakers and the Celtics with the top two. LA's card was then revealed as the #2 selection.
Celtics co-owner Wyc Grousbeck shook the hands of Lakers' president Magic Johnson and 76ers forward Joel Embiid, then kissed his lucky ring before thanking NBA Vice President Mark Tatum, who announced the selections.
