Thanksgiving is a holiday of tradition, family time, football, and of course, delicious food. Raymond’s Turkey Farm has been hard at work preparing for this special day.

Since Labor Day, the Rischer family has been hard at work preparing for their biggest day of the year.  Focus is on the side dishes – stuffing, gravy, squash, turkey pies – until the week before the holiday when all attention turns to preparing the fresh turkeys. They will sell about 9,000 fresh turkeys for the holiday and amazingly will still have more for those who do not think to prepare until the last minute.  Jim Rischer, owner of Raymond’s Turkey Farm, explains that they will never turn people away but the size selection may be limited. And size can get tricky; what size are you supposed to get?  Manager Kim Ellis advises one pound per person.  If your guests have big appetites or you love leftovers go a little bigger!

Buy fresh and buy local this Thanksgiving. You can enter to win a $50 gift certificate to Raymond’s Turkey Farm in Methuen.  All you have to do is ‘like’ the Around Town Facebook page and fill out the contest submission form. Five winners will be selected Wednesday!
