Credit Unions are cooperatives, or member-owned financial institutions.  When you open an account at a credit union, you become a member and automatically share in the benefits of.  One of those benefits is the historically low fees which allows members to spend their money where it is most important, their everyday lives. If you’re trusting a credit union with your money, how can you be sure it is safe? Credit Unions are insured National Credit Union Administration with the same exact limits that bank insurance has, so your money is safe and sound!

When credit unions are such a big part of people’s lives as they keep their money safe, they also get involved in their communities. One of big initiatives of the Cooperative Credit Union Association is called People Helping People. In Massachusetts they are involved with the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless. In New Hampshire they are involved with Make a Wish Foundation. Individual credit unions also find local initiatives that they align themselves and partner with as well.
