Employees say their paychecks were deposited in their bank accounts that same day, but early this week, the payments were reversed.

"I woke up yesterday and saw I was negative $314 in my account," said former Zoots manager Lucas Vered.

Some workers say the move caused checks to bounce and their accounts to be overdrawn.

"I have a lot of bills to pay... it's at the end of the month... and I don't have the money to pay them," said Vered.

The abrupt closures have also left customers high and dry, wondering if they will ever get their clothes back.

The state attorney general's office says it is monitoring the situation and is reviewing "multiple labor complaints from employees."

"Even though we knew that, you know, the company wasn't doing so great... maybe there were some ethical questions... we still showed up for work and did our best. And this is how we got repaid," said Vered.

Thursday, the lawyer acting as a trustee for Zoots asked a federal bankruptcy judge for an emergency order. It would allow completion of dry cleaning at Zoots' central location, delivery of finished garments to home delivery customers, and the opening of each retail store for one day only, for pick-up customers.

The last part is very important to Vered.

"These clothes are people's personal belongings. And these are people that we worked hard to develop relationships with," said Vered.

It's not just employees and customers affected by the Zoots bankruptcy. The owner of the Attleboro building is angry that he is now out the rent.

The emergency order motion was granted. Friday morning, managers will meet to get the Brockton location up and running. Next week, retail stores will re-open for one to two days each to allow customers to get their belongings.

They are also working to resolve the payroll issue.

As for the future of Zoots, some have expressed an interest in acquiring some of the assets and intellectual property of Zoots, so it could possibly re-open in the future.
