Teacher's aide found strangled to death in Worcester

WORCESTER, Mass. — A 49-year-old Worcester woman is dead, and police are searching for an unknown person they believe strangled her.

Police were called to a home on Congress Street Sunday at 11:15 a.m. for reports of a woman who was not breathing. When they arrived they found Sandra Hehir, a middle school instructional assistant, dead on the floor of the apartment.

An autopsy determined the cause of Hehir’s death to be homicide by strangulation.
