CHELSEA, Mass. — A woman is in critical condition after being shot in front of her house and police are searching for a vehicle they believe is connected to the shooting.

Police say a woman in her 40s was shot in her chest and arm outside a house on Clark Avenue just before midnight. She was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital in critical condition and is currently in stable condition.

Chelsea Police said a car pulled up near 67 Clark Ave. and words were exchanged; then shots were fired from inside the car, hitting the woman twice.

Detectives from the Massachusetts State Police were on scene until about 5 a.m. and said they believe the shooting was not random, according to a news release.

A neighbor, Eric Deblas, said the car stopped and "started shooting out of nowhere." A car with bullet holes in the bumper was towed from the scene Tuesday morning.

Chelsea Police are looking for a newer model gray, 4-door Honda with tinted windows and ask that anyone with information reach out to the tip line at 617-466-4880.
