SOMERVILLE, Mass. — An investigation is underway in Somerville after a woman was hit and killed by a Commuter Rail train early Wednesday morning.
MBTA Transit Police responded to reports of a person possibly being hit by a train around 6:30 a.m.
Officials said several first responders headed to the scene and found a woman, who has only been identified as being in her 20’s, in the area of Washington Street.
According to the preliminary investigation, officials said the trespassing woman was hit by a Fitchburg Line train on the right of way and was killed.
Foul play is not suspected and the incident remains under investigation.
No other information was released.
