Woman arrested for deadly Cape Cod hit-and-run

CENTERVILLE, Mass. — Barnstable Police have arrested and charged a woman in connection to a deadly hit-and-run in Centerville.

The woman, 33-year-old Sarah Hunt of Centerville, reportedly turned herself in on Saturday, January 6, when she walked into the Barnstable Police Station and confessed she was the suspect driver in the fatal hit-and-run.

Hunt had a conversation with Barnstable Detectives and admitted to being the driver during the accident and consequently fleeing the scene.

Detectives then recovered the damaged 2000 Toyota Camry Hunt was driving at the time of the accident from the garage in Hunt's home.

She was subsequently arrested and charged with Motor Vehicle Homicide by Negligent Operation, Leaving the Scene of an Accident after Death and Operating a Motor Vehicle with an open container.

Hunt was bailed on personal recognizance and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Barnstable District Court on Monday, January 8.
