BOSTON — A home health care worker in Brookline is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the disabled elderly people she was supposed to be helping.
Brookline police tell FOX25 they believe there may be several more victims out there.
Friday morning Boston and Brookline police arrested 35-year-old Allison Green for allegedly stealing tens of thousands of dollars from elderly and disabled people.
"We are concerned based on the pattern, that there may be other victims out there. There is a gap in the investigation, and I would like folks to take a look," Brookline Police Deputy Superintendent Michael Gropman told FOX25. "It's an upsetting, disturbing crime, that's why the housing officers were working on it non-stop.
FOX25 has learned that Green advertised online through various websites as a home health care worker.
Investigators say she was specifically targeting elderly and severely disabled people. Her latest victim was a 73-year-old paralyzed woman.
"Through credit cards and ATM withdrawal. She was going to a number of different stores, making purchases and withdrawals for $100," Gropman said.
In Brookline alone, there were three victims. One victim was scammed out of $80,000. Green's youngest victim was a 21-year-old disabled woman.
"Screen who you hire. The state allows you to check for criminal history, called CORI law, the criminal offender information system," Gropman said.
Police ask that any other victims to come forward.
