Winchendon Pop Warner coach charged with child pornography

WINCHENDON, Mass. — Police are investigating a Pop Warner football coach from Winchendon after allegedly finding child pornography on his cell phone and computer.

Students and parents who know 51-year-old Ken Burak said he loved his job and enjoyed teaching children.

“He seemed like an all right guy, I never thought he would do something like that,” Anthony Wolski, a student, said.

FOX25 spoke to a neighbor who said she saw several police cars around Burak’s home as she was leaving for work Wednesday morning.

Local and state police, as well as Homeland Security officers searched through Burak's home on Metcalf Street in Winchendon. They tell FOX25, they found pornographic images of young children on his computer and cell phone.

“The whole Pop Warner community, the cheerleaders all the football they are all extremely tight knit. I'm surprised no one knew what was going on. He must've kept it well hidden,” Shannon Stedfeld, a parent, said.

Investigators told FOX25 more evidence was found in a chat room messenger app called Kik.

Those who know Burak say, they don't want to believe any of this.

“I think it's disgusting. I never thought of him as a guy to have anything like that,” Haley Collins, a student, said.

Burak is being held on a $7,000 cash bail, pending a pre-trial hearing on March 16.

FOX25 tried to get a comment from the Pop Warner president, Matthew Gauthier, but he said if we showed up at his door, he would "escort us off.”
