Where to eat and drink on a rooftop this summer in Boston

BOSTON — There aren't too many rooftops in the Boston metro area, but those that are available all have a different flair, including fire pits and brunch.

The third floor promenade deck has retractable glass walls and ceiling, so the deck can be used all year round. The menu includes wine, cocktails and beer along with pitchers of punches. There’s a sushi menu, sushi party boats and small bites.

Along with a fast causal taqueria, the Harvard Square restaurant has a bar in the back on the first floor, a second-floor seating area and then a third-floor rooftop seating area and bar. Along with house made margaritas, there's a selection of Mexican beers. Due to Cambridge liquor licensing laws, last call is at 1 a.m.

Along with an indoor heated rooftop pool, there's a cabana and couch rental option for those wanting to lounge in the day or evening. There is usually a cover charge to get onto the rooftop for non-guests. Guests get first access to the area.

The rooftop deck has s summer beach vibe, with a vintage Airstream serving craft beer and house cocktails.

Saturday and Sunday: 11 a.m. - 11 p.m.

With an incredible view of the harbor, the Outlook Kitchen and Bar has a full indoor restaurant and then outdoor patio area. There are couches and plenty of chairs, fire pits and a covered seating area with heaters on cooler evenings. There's a full bar for outside. Note that baseball hats or tank tops are not allowed on the roof deck.

The North End restaurant has a retractable roof top deck for some perfect outdoor summer dining.  There is a bar on the roof, along with tables.

The Baseball Tavern

For either before or after a Red Sox game, for just a night out, The Baseball Tavern has a deck with outfield decorations. A casual vibe with a 20-something crowd, it has bar food too available.
