WEYMOUTH, Mass. — Weymouth police have arrested a man they said shot a gas station clerk during an attempted robbery Wednesday night.
Police were called to Rooney’s Gas Station around 9:40 p.m. to investigate after the employee reported he had been shot by a man during a robbery attempt.
The suspect, who has since been identified as Christopher M. Tanguay, 22, of Weymouth, attempted to get away but police were able to locate him a short distance from the gas station on Park Avenue.
Tanguay was charged with attempt to commit a crime-armed robbery while masked, armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery by discharging a firearm, assault by means of a dangerous weapon, possession of ammunition with an FID card and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.
He was ordered held without bail.
The victim, a 24-year-old Weymouth man, was treated at South Shore Hospital for a bullet wound to the shoulder.
The incident is under investigation.
