WATCH: 20,000 teddy bears thrown to the ice to help charity

CALGARY — When an NHL player scores three goals in the same game fans throw their hats on the ice, When the Detroit Red Wings need some luck the fans throw octopi, and when charities in Calgary need toys for the holidays the fans are happy to oblige.

This weekend at a Calgary Hitmen game more than 20,000 teddy bears were thrown to the ice for the benefit of more than 60 charities.

“Our community gets behind this like no other in the world. That’s why it is world famous and why we’re so darn proud of it,” Hitmen GM Mike Moore said.
