UXBRIDGE, Mass. — Uxbridge Police saved a baby's life after the infant stopped breathing last week.
Police said they received a 9-1-1 call reporting the incident. Baby Ashlynn's mother and grandmother were driving to the fire department for help.
Officer Kyle Tripp tracked down their car and pulled them over. When he was handed Ashlynn, he saw drool and what appeared to be formula coming out of her mouth.
“She wasn't making any noise at the time. She had some food coming out of her mouth and that's when I recognized her airway was blocked so I decided to turn her over and deliver a few back blows and that's when she actually threw up a little bit and started to cry,” Tripp said.
Officer Tripp began performing back thrusts and moments later Officer Ethier arrived to assist.
Ashlynn was brought to Milford Hospital but has since been released and is doing well. Thursday night she met the officer who helped save her life, this time under much better circumstances.
“It’s great to see her with color her eyes are wide open its great,” Tripp said. “Moments like this is when it pays off.”
“This holiday season it’s nice to go home and tell our families we do something very positive in our community,” Chief Jeffrey Lourie said.
