BOSTON — Uber understands that sometimes, when you're sad, you just need to go home and cry.
With that in mind, after the Super Bowl this Sunday, the rideshare giant is offering free rides to Uber Rewards members in the losing city.
The company will offer free rides for up to an hour after the game ends in either Los Angeles or Boston, depending on the outcome of Super Bowl LIII.
"Uber Rewards keeps life moving when life gets in the way, like when the saddest fans on earth just want to go home and cry a little," the company said in a release.
On gameday, users in Boston or LA will be able to open their app and tap the "Unhappy Hour" message at the bottom of the screen. There, riders will be able to find the promo code for their city that can be applied if their favorite team loses.
If the time comes where you need a free ride to leave your Super Bowl party but you realize you're not an Uber Rewards Member, don't fret - you can tap to quickly sign up. You can even sign up after the game ends, as long as this is done and the ride is requested within 60 minutes after the game is over.
After the game ends, you can open the Uber app, apply the promo code in the Payments section and request a free ride.
The Unhappy Hour is only valid for UberX, UberXL, UberPOOL, Express Pool and WAV trips.
