A two-alarm fire broke out on Dorchester's Devon Street late Friday night, according to Boston Fire's official Twitter page. The blaze sent one firefighter to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and resulted in roughly $300,000 worth of damages. Seventeen residents were displaced.
Boston Fire responded to a building fire at 159 Devon St. at 11:23 p.m. on Friday. Upon arrival, a second alarm was ordered after heavy fire was observed. The fire then spread from the two and a half story building to 161 Devon St.
The Office of Neighborhood Services and the Massachusetts Red Cross were both notified of the displaced residents. Fire officials are investigating the blaze.
At 1:04 a.m. on Saturday, Boston Fire announced that they had extinguished the flames in both buildings and then began the overhauling process.
