Trump dazzles thousands at rally despite protesters

LOWELL, Mass. — Presidential candidate Donald Trump dazzled thousands during a rally in Lowell, despite multiple interruptions by protesters.

Trump took the stage in front of a capacity crowd at the Tsongas Center Monday night, as many waited in the cold for hours outside.

"We have to stand up for our freedom," said Edward Champigny, who wrote a song about Trump and led the crowd in multiple renditions of it. "It's amazing, it's like Trump just came from heaven."

Despite being told to remain in a designated "Free Speech Area" outside the Tsongas Center, more than two dozen protesters made their way inside and broke out into chants in small pockets during various points of Trump's speech.

"They remind me of Hillary [Clinton]," Trump said at one point. "No energy, no stamina, no strength."

Trump criticized Clinton during his rally, on the same day a television ad depicting the Democratic presidential candidate was released in New Hampshire.

"Hillary - that's four more years of Obama," Trump told the crowd.

Trump kept his speech local, mentioning the Boston Marathon during his criticism of the US government's handling of terrorists.

Trump also praised Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, wishing him a speedy recovery for his sprained ankle and reiterating their "close" friendship.
