HENRY COUNTY, Va. — A pregnant woman was fatally shot in the face Tuesday.
Krystal Anne McReynolds, who is about five months pregnant, was shot in the face around 9:48 p.m., the Henry County Sheriff’s Office said.
Thomas Christopher McDowell, 35, was arrested and charged with aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, WGHP reported.
Reynolds, 34, was taken to a hospital, where she died. The unborn child died, as well.
The medical examiner will determine the cause of death for Reynolds and the child.
Additional charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm during the commission of murder were added after Reynolds died.
McDowell is being held in jail without bond.
The nature of McDowell’s relationship with Reynolds is unclear.
