Man dead, sister in coma after fire truck crashes into ambulance in New York

NEW YORK — A man is dead and his sister is in a coma after a fire truck crashed into the ambulance they were in early Thursday morning.

A fire truck hit an ambulance around 2 a.m., knocking the rescue vehicle onto its side and into another vehicle that was stopped at a traffic light, WCBS reported.

The ambulance was taking heart attack victim Almansouri Jamil, 59, to a hospital, WCBS reported. His 35-year-old sister was riding with him for support.

The woman’s husband tried to text her. When she did not reply, the family traced the phone’s location and ended up at the accident scene.

Two emergency medical technicians and six firefighters were injured but are in stable condition. Two people in the car suffered minor injuries.
