Federal officials are investigating after a government website was defaced Saturday night with pro-Iranian and anti-American messaging.
An unknown group posted images of an injured President Donald Trump with an Iranian Revolutionary Guard fist in his face on the Federal Depository Library Program website. The website was taken offline after the unauthorized access.
"We are aware the website of the Federal Depository Library Program was defaced with pro-Iranian, anti-US messaging," Sara Sendek, a spokesperson for DHS' Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency told CNN . "At this time, there is no confirmation that this was the action of Iranian state-sponsored actors. The website was taken off line and is no longer accessible. CISA is monitoring the situation with FDLP and our federal partners."
“An intrusion was detected on GPO’s FDLP website, which has been taken down. GPO’s other sites are fully operational,” Gary Somerset, spokesman for the US Government Publishing Office, told CNN . “We are coordinating with the appropriate authorities to investigate further.”
