Less than 24 hours after Chadwick Boseman’s death was confirmed, the announcement has become the most liked post on Twitter ever.

“It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman,” the post reads.

Boseman’s sudden death shocked most of the world, as very few people knew he had been sick.

“Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV,” the post reads. “⁣⁣A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From ’Marshall’ to ’Da 5 Bloods,’ August Wilson’s ’Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’ and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. "

Boseman had been criticized in recent months as he appeared at events and in photos looking significantly thinner than fans were used to.

The 43-year-old actor starred in multiple films and depicted Black icons like James Brown, Thurgood Marshall and Jackie Robinson.

He was most known for his role as King T’Challa in Ryan Coogler’s “Black Panther.”

“It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life,” the post reads.

Since the Friday night announcement of his death, fellow actors and fans have taken to social media to honor Boseman.

Twitter shared Saturday afternoon that the final tweet from Boseman’s account is now the most liked post on the platform.

As of Sunday afternoon, it has been liked more than 7 million times.

“Fans are coming together on Twitter to celebrate the life of Chadwick Boseman, and the tweet sent from his account last night is now the most liked tweet of all time on Twitter,” the company said Saturday in a statement.

“Fans are also working to organize ‘Black Panther’ Twitter watch parties using #BlackPanther and #WakandaForever, so Twitter has turned the original #BlackPanther emoji back on so fans can watch and talk about his legacy together,” Twitter stated.

Before Saturday, the most liked tweet on Twitter was posted by Barack Obama.

“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion,” the post reads.

The tweet was published Aug. 12, 2017, in the wake of rallies in Charlottesville, Virginia. At the time, white nationalists and counterprotesters were demonstrating in the city and fighting over the removal of Confederate monuments across the South.

Obama’s post garnered 4.3 million likes.
