Nay, that is not a misprint. But galloping under the influence is a new broken law for police in Whittier.

A person is accused of “galloping through traffic” on a horse while intoxicated, The Orange County Register reported.

In an Instagram post, the Whittier Police Department said the rider exhibited too much horsepower and refused to rein in the animal when officers attempted to pull them over.

“That was our afternoon. A pursuit after a DUI on a horse!” police wrote on Instagram. “At the conclusion, a suspect was taken into custody and the horse was brought to our station, where it received lots of love️ from our team.”

Police did not reveal the identity of the person who was arrested.
