FRESNO, Calif. — A 5-year-old boy was killed Tuesday night when an Amtrak train struck his family’s minivan as they waited to enter a drive-through holiday display in Fresno, California.

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Anton Solorio of Fresno, KFSN reported.

“Unfortunately, as a result of the impact of the train colliding with the vehicle, a small child was ultimately killed,” Fresno Police Department Lt. Andre Benson told the TV station.

Investigators told KSEE that none of the train’s 50 passengers were injured, and two family members other than the child in the van were also injured but are expected to recover.

Benson also confirmed that the family saw the train coming as they waited their turn to enter the annual attraction, dubbed Christmas Tree Lane, but were unable to get the minivan off the tracks, KFSN reported.
