ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Zoo officials in New Mexico welcomed the first gorilla born at the Albuquerque BioPark since 2004, officials said.
Samantha, a first-time mother, delivered the baby at 10:29 a.m. MDT on Wednesday, KRQE-TV reported. In a Facebook post, zoo officials said staff members watched the birth through a remote video feed.
The sex of the new gorilla has not been determined, zoo officials said. The father of the gorilla is 20-year-old Kojo, who has been at the ABQ Bio Park Zoo since 2021.
