Houston police officer arrested on DWI charge when picking up child at school

A Houston police officer was charged with DWI while picking up his child from school.

CYPRESS, Texas — A Houston police officer was arrested Thursday on a DWI charge after he picked up his child at school, KTRK reported.

According to school officials, Officer Artie Weathers showed up at Ault Elementary School in Cypress, Texas, on Wednesday and was visibly intoxicated.

Weathers bonded out of jail.

School officials called Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District police, who took Weathers into custody and charged him with DWI, the television station reported.

In a statement, the school district confirmed that “an intoxicated parent arrived on campus to pick up a child.”
