Thirteen people, including a child, were killed at a bar in Mexico when gunmen raided a family celebration Friday in the city of Minatitlán, CNN reported.
Four other people were injured in the attack. According to a spokesman for the state government of Veracruz, the gunmen, who were not identified, attacked after seeking a man at a bar, The New York Times reported.
The motive for the killings was unclear, the Veracruz spokesman said.
Seven men, five women and a child died in the shooting, the newspaper reported.
According to preliminary reports, the man the attackers sought was called "El Beky," the owner of a bar in Minatitlán, CNN reported
"Federal and state forces have deployed a strong search and capture operation of those responsible for the events," Gutiérrez Maldonado, secretary of public security in Veracruz, tweeted Saturday.
