LEOMINSTER, Mass. — A tree cutting employee is dead after falling while on the job Thursday afternoon.
According to the Leominster Police Department, the 26-year-old man was working 55 feet high at the top of a tree.

The tree fell and hit the bucket he was in, knocking Nick Kallio out and to the ground.
"We started taking the tree down because it started to crackle, we were afraid it was going to hurt somebody," Dennis Owen, the homeowner, said.
Owen said he felt helpless as Kallio lay on the ground.
Friends say Kallio loved the tree business and had a good life ahead of him.
"He was a good kid. He was in the ROTC, in school, all around good kid," one friend who asked not to be named said.
Investigators tell FOX25 Kallio was not properly secured in the bucket truck when the incident happened around 3 p.m.
