WASHINGTON — President-elect Donald Trump has left the White House after his first meeting with President Barack Obama.

Trump says it was the first time the two had ever met.

Trump said that Obama explained "some of the difficulties" but also "some of the really great things that have been achieved." Trump is noting that the meeting was expected to be short, but lasted almost 90 minutes. He said as far as he's concerned, it could have gone on much longer.

While in Washington, Trump also plans to meet with House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

As Trump and Obama met in the Oval Office, first lady Michelle Obama welcomed Trump's wife, Melania, to the White House residence.
