HUDSON, Mass. — The family of Trooper Thomas Clardy visited with the public for hours Monday, ahead of Tuesday's funeral.
More than 1,000 law enforcement officers honored the fallen state trooper at his wake.
Tomorrow, thousands of officers from across the country will pay their final respects to the husband and father of six who died in a violent crash on the Mass Pike.
Clardy worked hard to support that family and had picked up an extra shift last week that was a traffic safety detail on the turnpike. It was then that investigators say a driver crossed three lanes of traffic and hit Clardy's cruiser, killing the trooper.
"Tommy loved his job, just like he loved the Marine Corps and loved his family," trooper Jonathan Brown told FOX25.
FOX25 will carry the funeral live on TV and online Tuesday morning.
