Texts between teen and classmate who killed himself are released

PLAINVILLE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The attorney for a Plainville teenager accused of urging a classmate to kill himself says graphic text messages are not a crime.

The messages from Michelle Carter to Conrad Roy were made public in court documents released Friday.

Roy used carbon monoxide to kill himself last summer.

Prosecutors say Carter sent messages to him which said "you just have to do it", "tonight is the night", and "it's painless and quick."

Her attorney tells the Herald those messages are acts of free speech and not a criminal act.
