Texting and driving leads to warrant arrest in Yarmouth

YARMOUTH, Mass. — A woman and her passenger were arrested after a case of alleged texting and driving in South Yarmouth, police say.

Yarmouth Police officers pulled over a driver for allegedly texting and driving near the Exit 8 off ramp in South Yarmouth.

Police say the driver originally lied about her identity when she was pulled over, and the passenger in her car was also found to have a warrant for his arrest.

The woman, identified as 26-year-old Webster native Gina Giovangelo, was charged with operating a motor vehicle with her license revoked, motor vehicle operation refusing to identify self and texting while driving.

The passenger, 29-year-old Pofinima Gweama from Pawtucket, Rhode Island, was arrested on a warrant, with charges for unlicensed driving and speeding.
