Teenager charged with multiple counts in Waltham stabbings

WALTHAM, Mass. — A 16-year-old has been charged in Monday's stabbings in Waltham that injured two female Brandeis University graduate students.

Waltham Police say the male resident has been charged with aggravated burglary, two counts of assault with intent to murder, and two counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

On Monday at 1:37 a.m., the police department went to 18 Wheelock Road after they were told of a stabbing. Officers found two females who had been stabbed multiple times. They were brought to area hospitals and are expected to survive.

The suspect fled but was ultimately found at 5:13 a.m. and taken into custody.

The motive is still unknown, but appears to be a random act.
