WEYMOUTH, Mass. — A teacher in Weymouth went the extra mile to make his fourth grade class’s graduation a special event and a parent says it’s just one example of how great he is.
Jeremy Angelos gave all 26 students in his class a personalized handshake and when each was called up to get his or her diploma, they showed it off.
Parent Dolly Hardy shared video of her son’s elementary school graduation ceremony with FOX25, adding that it meant a lot to the kids.
“He inspired, led by example and is the epitome of what a teacher should be,” Hardy said of Angelos.
In the video, Angelos explains he saw a basketball coach doing handshakes with his players and thought, “wouldn’t it be cool to do that at graduation?”
Angelos teaches at Thomas Hamilton Primary School in Weymouth and Hardy said her son was sad to have to leave his class.
“One of the things I loved was that he wasn’t reading off a card, he was looking at the kids. He knew them, he knew their names and he knew their handshakes,” Hardy said. “This video was a demonstration of how he was as a teacher. He took the time to get to know each one and their families.”
“I can’t believe I remembered all of them,” Angelos said after the ceremony.
