BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Singer Taylor Swift tweeted about Boston College Friday, giving a nod to the music video students made with her new hit "Shake It Off" as the soundtrack. The video aims to promote the school's Espresso Your Faith Week, seven days that take a look at the religions of BC students.
On Friday, Swift tweeted the video and said, "Yes, Boston College, YES. Thank you so everyone who took part in making this, it just made me SO happy! http://t.co/J65NJC0hUB #ShakeItOff."
John Campbell, senior, and John Walsh, sophomore, had a large role in the making of the video. Both are members of the school's group Church in the 21st Century that started more than a decade ago after a Catholic Church sex abuse scandal, according to Boston.com. The group works on developing ways to start conversations about faith with students. Espresso Your Faith week came out of Agape Latte, which brings students and faculty together to discuss where life and faith intersect.
Over 1,000 members of the BC community took part in the the school's "Shake It Off" video, which they chose because of it's warm-hearted, upbeat message.
Campbell told Boston.com that he thought Swift might just shake off the school's video without acknowledging it, and was stunned when he found out that the singer had posted it on her Twitter page.
"The reason I'm most happy she shared it is because it'll help extend the reach of [Agape Latte]," Walsh told Boston.com.
The reach certainly was extended with Swift's 45.4 million followers on Twitter; the BC video has been viewed 85,492 times so far.
