(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – MBTA riders helped apprehend a would-be phone thief.
Jonathan Pagan was arrested after allegedly trying to steal a cell phone from a fellow passenger on the Back Bay platform of the Orange Line.
The 20-year-old was detained by the victim and another rider until police arrived, but Pagan refused to surrender.
Transit police sprayed Pagan twice with pepper spray, but he was able to still run off. He was later caught near the commuter rail.
A judge released Pagan on his own recognizance on the condition he enter and complete a drug treatment program.
Pagan is expected in court again on July 11.
