Suspect shot during confrontation with Plymouth police

PLYMOUTH, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A Taunton man has been charged in connection with a shooting that occurred on Forest Avenue in Plymouth Sunday night.

Police received a call reporting people in the streets with guns in the area of 3 Forest Ave. at about 8:06 p.m., reports the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office.

Upon arrival, police found a 2006 Ford van traveling east on Forest Avenue and stopped the car at the intersection of Forest Avenue and Court Street.

Officers allegedly ordered Wood to drop his weapon, but he did not comply and an officer shot the suspect. Wood was taken via helicopter to a Boston area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Witnesses told police when the car came to a stop, the right rear passenger, later identified as 21-year-old Trevor Wood, exited the car wearing a bandana on his face and carrying a gun.

Wood has been charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder and one count unlawful possession of a firearm. His arraignment date has not yet been set.
