Stepped up security for Boston Calling concert

People heading to Boston Calling this weekend should expect long lines due to increased security around the festival at the Harvard Athletic Complex.

The additional scrutiny is in response to the Manchester concert attack earlier this week.

Some permanent gates around the 16-acre site have been taken down in case there's an emergency.

Organizers say there will be enhanced security all weekend between the red line stop at Harvard Square and the venue. There will also only be one main entrance into the show where guests must pass through a metal detector before they can enter.

Special Operations Officers have checked dumpsters for explosives, brought a bomb-sniffing K9 to walk the grounds and have ambulances on standby in case of an emergency.
