State trooper rescues dog, reunites with family on Christmas Day

DUXBURY — A Massachusetts family has a state trooper to thank for reuniting them with a missing member of their clan.

State police say Trooper David Phan was driving home after a shift on Christmas Day on Route 3 in Duxbury when he noticed cars swerving to avoid something in the road.

As he pulled up, he saw a dog in the middle of the road.

Police say with the help of some Good Samaritans, Trooper Phan was able to convince the dog, named Willow, to get into his car.

He then tracked down the dog’s owners, who were out looking for her.

Trooper Phan drove Willow back to her home in Pembroke, giving the family what police say was “no doubt, the best Christmas gift they got that day.”
